Company launches Seamless Session Services,
giving service providers an easier way to bring consumers personalized services
across different devices and networks
BARCELONA, Spain– 3GSM World Congress -15 February 2006 – Making the vision of
seamless mobility a reality, Motorola (NYSE: MOT) today launched Seamless
Session Services—an innovative solution that helps service providers quickly
launch, develop, deploy and manage differentiated telephony, messaging and
media services. The solution enables service providers to rapidly evolve their
network infrastructure to bring consumers the next generation applications they
demand, and allow them to experience rich voice, media and messaging on the
move—across multiple devices and multiple networks.
For consumers, Seamless Session Services provides the personalization and
flexibility they crave by giving them the ability to dynamically choose the
devices that are most convenient, and use them to consistently access voice,
video, messaging and multimedia—regardless of their location or the network.
These seamless services enhance the consumer experience by breaking down the
barriers that exist in moving communications from the office, the home, auto or
out and about.
For the service provider, Seamless Session Services is yet another powerful way
Motorola is aggressively enabling the service and device convergence across
fixed and mobile networks, as well as reducing the need to implement all new
networks in order to bring next-generation applications to subscribers. In
addition, it enhances the platform migration paths for seamless mobility,
including Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA), Softswitch/VoIP networks, and IP
Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) so that networks are more easily migratable as
subscriber needs evolve.
“Consumer pressure for complete connectivity is escalating daily, with their demand
to use any device and receive exceptional service in any location, at any time,
on any application they want,” said Sri Kannankote, Motorola’s corporate vice
president, Network Services and Applications Management. “Motorola is helping
service providers meet these demands while managing technological and
investment restrictions. With Seamless Session Services, they have a method to
break through the competition and keep operating costs under control, while
building the migration path that will help them deploy next-generation quality
services.”
Seamless Session Services is a solution for applications session management in
the service layer that can be deployed with UMA, Softswitch/VoIP and IMS
networks. Motorola’s Enhanced UMA is the first application of Seamless Session
Services to provide service providers the capability to deliver advanced
seamless services and dynamic service personalization for end users.
Motorola is well positioned to lead the industry in delivering seamless
mobility and has focused its global resources on solving these challenges. For
the past three years, Motorola has invested significant resources to realize
its vision of Seamless Mobility. Motorola’s experience in wireless and wireline
networks, broadband networks, core networks, VoIP, applications, devices,
telephony, automobile, home networking and video—as well as extensive knowledge
and experience in operationalizing these technologies—puts Motorola in a
distinctive position to make the integrated, converged communication experience
a reality.
