Wireless capabilities provide “first of its kind”
experience at historic Leonardo da Vinci exhibit in Chicago
SCHAUMBURG, IL, − 19 April 2006 − Revolutionizing the museum experience,
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) is using cutting-edge technology to offer unique,
enhanced, interactive tours for visitors of the highly-anticipated exhibit, Leonardo
da Vinci: Man, Inventor, Genius at the Museum of Science and Industry in
Chicago.
Moving past clunky cassette players and wired headphones, Motorola is working
with the museum to create a totally wireless environment - a first for the
Museum of Science and Industry. Visitors of the da Vinci exhibit can enjoy a
seamless, interactive audio and visual experience through the Motorola HT820
Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Headphones and the compatible Bluetooth® enabled
Motorola RAZR V3x handset.
Motorola technology will enhance the visitor experience by enabling them to
watch a video while they are listening to the audio portion of the tour. The
Motorola RAZR V3x will wirelessly stream an audio presentation to the HT820
headphones, so patrons can hear with crisp, clear sound quality descriptions of
nearly 60 of Leonardo’s inventions. Additionally, visitors can view on the
Motorola RAZR V3x’s large colour screen stunning visual clips that complement
and correspond with the audio presentation, delivering a truly, immersive and
interactive learning experience.
“With this enhanced wireless and video capability, patrons will
experience Leonardo’s genius through the juxtaposition of the old and
the new - using the latest and greatest wireless technology,” said Padmasree
Warrior, executive vice president and chief technology officer. “As an
organization that thrives on innovation, it is our humble way of giving back to
the community and paying respect to an inventor and scientist whose astounding
creations have had an immeasurable impact on the technology we have today.”
This experience was made possible by a donation to the museum by Motorola and
the Motorola Foundation, a charitable giving arm funded by Motorola.

About Exhibit
Many of us know Leonardo da Vinci as an artist of masterpieces such as the
Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Yet Leonardo’s brilliance extended
far beyond the paintbrush into science and engineering. His curiosity
knew no bounds and led to revolutionary concepts in areas like human flight,
mechanics and military engineering, to name a few. The U.S. debut of
Leonardo da Vinci: Man, Inventor, Genius, allows guests to explore his life
and work like never before. Guests will take an immersive journey through more
than 60 large-scale models of his most innovative designs—all produced in vivid
detail from his original drawings—and see modern day examples of technology
inspired by his work. This exhibit, coupled with engaging content and
activities, will have broad appeal among schoolchildren, adults, families and
seniors.
