Developers “pull out all the stops” for Motorola
competition held at JavaOne 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - 19 May 2006 - In an ongoing quest to support excellence in
mobile application development, Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) is proud to announce
the winners of 2006//CODE:MOTO, Motorola’s developer competition held at
JavaOne.
2006//CODE:MOTO tested the technical agility and innovation skills of top
independent developers at the event. Participants in the competition were
challenged to create compelling new Java™ applications in one of two categories
- games & multimedia and productivity. Winners for each application
category include:
Gaming & Multimedia Category
- Grand Prize - Anki Nelaturu of ExcellApps for “Boomerang,” a puzzle designed with the goal of building a bridge across a river by using a boomerang to swipe the necessary building objects, carried by butterflies overhead.
- Runner Up - Isaac de la Pena for “Number Place,” an app consisting of two logic-based placement puzzles from Japan.
Productivity Category
- Grand Prize - Raffaele Sena for “Fuel Meter,” an application enabling you to manage gas consumption for your vehicle.
- Runner Up - J. Selvin of Sabre for “Trip Downloader,” an application that allows users to retrieve their travel details.
All Java applications were developed for use with Motorola’s iconic RAZR, PEBL
and SLVR models and/or Java-enabled iDEN devices. An esteemed panel of judges
featuring executives from Cingular, Electronic Arts, Fierce Wireless, Handango,
Motorola and Sprint, evaluated each application and convened to select the
winners.

Grand prize winners received a portfolio of devices -- including Motorola RAZR,
PEBL, SLVR, ROKR E2, A1200 and i870-- in a special edition case, a cash prize
and most importantly, a shot at making their application commercially available
through business and promotional opportunities.
