Motorola MOTOwi4™ WiMAX Solutions for Fixed, Nomadic and
Mobile Applications Demonstrated Live
VIENNA, Austria – WiMAX World Europe – May 22, 2006 – Motorola, Inc.
(NYSE:MOT), a leading global provider of broadband wireless access solutions,
is showcasing the strength and breadth of its MOTOwi4 wireless broadband
portfolio at WiMAX World Europe this week, including the latest addition – its
carrier-class WiMAX solution.
Motorola’s live MOTOwi4 demonstrations include:
- Motorola’s new carrier-class WiMAX network, an 802.16e solution that uses advanced antenna techniques to provide greater coverage range and building penetration, which will perform rich media downloads and video streaming through a laptop. Based on Motorola’s Carrier Access Point architecture, this is an all-IP fully distributed peer-to-peer architecture solution that reduces the amount of equipment needed. It is planned to support both 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz networks
- IP video telephony and rich media downloads over Motorola’s 802.16e-based MOTOwi4 Ultra Light Access Point and Canopy® solutions
- MOTOwi4 networks connected to Motorola’s next-generation converged core network powered by IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
In addition, Motorola will showcase the experience and expertise of its
services solutions that are utilized to enable the MOTOwi4 experience.
Motorola’s MOTOwi4 portfolio is designed to meet the industry’s need for
greater bandwidth, simplified networks for fixed and mobile applications, and
to provide a full scope of both fixed and mobile end user applications.
Combined with the Motorola IMS, MOTOwi4 products offer a path to seamless
